Lotto Mazovia Tour: Mihaylov wins the criterium – Memorial of Marek Cichosz

Nikolay Mihaylov won Memorial of Marek Cichosz – the criterium which was a prologue of Lotto Mazovia Tour. He will wear the jersey of the most active rider on the stage 1 of this 5-day race.

The criterium was held in Warsaw, next to the well known horse racing track in Sluzewiec. It was 45 kilometers-18 laps long.

Tempo on the first few laps was relatively easy, but it picked up when there were extra points to gain. On the halfway the peleton split into smaller groups. BDC MarcPol team started to pull harder but they were not able to stop Nikolay Mihaylov. He attacked after 12th lap and soloed for the victory.

– I took off from the front group. I didn’t hesitate, pushed the pedals and pretty fast I managed to gain advantage over the chasers. I maintained my rhythm and the gap. 3 laps before the finished I realized that no one will catch me and I can win the criterium – said Mihaylov afterwards.

He not only collected the most amount of points (28) but also crossed the finish line first, by himself.

2. Adrian Tekliński (Sante Whistle Ziemia Brzeska) – 12 pkt.

3. Sjors Roosen (Cycling Team Jo Piels) – 10 pkt.
