Last weekend cyclists of the CCC Polsat Polkowice team – Dariusz Batek, Łukasz Bodnar, Krzysztof Jeżowski, Tomasz Lisowicz, Bartłomiej Matysiak and Tomasz Repiński took part in a race in Sebnitz, not far from Dresden. At the starting line of the race there were a lot of leading racers from Pro Tour teams, among others Jens Voigt (CSC) and Robert Forster (Milram).
The race was held on 17 laps, 6.8 km each, which gave 115 km in total. Despite a heavy rain and low temperature (+ 7 degrees Celsius) the race stirred the emotions of the fans watching it. On the first laps Dariusz Batek rode very actively, winning all the mountain primes. Very difficult weather conditions (low temperature and strong wind) quickly depleted the peloton, out of which every now and then new contestants dropped. On lap 13, during the climb for the mountain prime, the decisive action took place. A group of 5, with Jens Voigt, leading formed at the front. The leading five split further, so that the finishing line was crossed by each rider individually. The winner of the race was Jens Voigt from the team of CSC.
Out of the CCC Polsat Polkowice cyclists the highest – eleventh – place was taken by Łukasz Bodnar.
The final classification of the race:
1. Jens Voigt (CSC)
2. Bjorn Schroder (Milram)
3. Tino Thomel (KED-Bianchi Team)
4. Robert Forster (Milram)
11. Łukasz Bodnar (CCC Polsat Polkowice)
