Łukasz Bodnar (CCC Polsat Polkowice) won after a break-away finish, the Ślężański Mnich race in Sobótka that opened the cycling season in Poland, overtaking his team-mates Tomasz Smoleń and Tomasz Kiendyś. The cyclist of the CCC Polsat Polkowice group became the first leader of the BGŻ ProLiga 2011 cycle.
The Ślężański Mnich race opened the competition in ProLiga for the first time, having been included in it since this season. At the starting line there were 800 cyclists from all age categories. The race was dictated by the cyclists from the CCC Polsat Polkowice group. In the decisive break-away group of 8 cyclists five of them were from the ‘orange’ team. Łukasz Bodnar turned out to be the fastest at the finishing line, overtaking his team-mates Tomasz Smoleń and Tomasz Kiendyś. The fourth place was taken by Michał Podlaski from the team of KS Pogoń Aktio Group Mostostal Puławy.
Łukasz Bodnar became the first leader of the BGŻ ProLiga 2011 cycle, putting on on the podium the yellow jersey sponsored by Bank BGŻ. In the general classification he is overtaking his team mates Tomasza Smoleń and Tomasz Kiendyś. The next race of the BGŻ ProLiga cycle is the classic cycle race: the Memorial of Andrzej Trochanowski, that is going to be held on 1 May in Warszawa.
