Kamil Małecki finished in top 10 in the last Italian semi-classic of 2018 season for CCC Sprandi Polkowice, Trofeo Matteotti.
Info: September 23rd, Pescara – Pescara, 195km
Course: undulating (13 laps, 15km each)
The race got off to an unusual start, as big and strong group of 38 riders went clear early. Patryk Stosz and Kamil Małecki made the cut and together with other escapees, continued to stretch out the lead over the bunch.
Since most of the strongest teams had their representatives in the lead, peloton sat up and eventually decided to call it a day.
The winner came from the group of CCC Sprandi Polkowice duo and the closer it got to the finish, the smaller that field was. The race was decided after an 18-man sprint and Davide Ballerini (Androni Giocatolli) arrived at the line in first place, besting Giovanni Visconti (Bahrain Merida) and Marco Tizza (Nippo Vini Fantini).
Kamil Małecki sprinted to a solid, 8th place.
