One of the best Polish time trialist, Marcin Białobłocki, has signed a 1-year deal with CCC Sprandi Polkowice.
Marcin will be very valuable addition to our team. We are hoping that he will not only deliver some good results in races against the clock, but will also share his great experience and knowledge with our young riders. He knows exactly how to train, how to prepare and warm up before the time trial and knows how every detail is important.
I’ve had a chance to work with Marcin on couple of occasions in the National Team. He is an interesting person, who experienced the real life, outside of sport. He developed outstanding work ethic during those few years spent in Great Britain, working normal jobs. We hope that he will pass along his approach to the rest of the team.
We get along very well with Piotr Wadecki, who’s been my coach on the National Team. He was a great rider and knows very well what I want to accomplish – Marcin Białobłocki says – CCC Sprandi Polkowice is capable of giving me all the support I need to reach my goals. It’s a team which will help me develop, it takes part in the high class races and it’s well organised. All I need to worry about is to work hard. My goal is to improve my time trial skills and to help my teammates if needed.
The story of the 33-year old rider is unusual. Few years ago he had to stop his cycling career and moved to Great Britain for work. After a while he returned to training regime, combining work and cycling. He made a name for himself on the amateur scene and drew attention of smaller professional team, gradually getting closer to the Pro ranks.
He got his break-through moment in last year’s Polish Championships time trial which he won. Few weeks later he also took the victory in the last stage of Tour de Pologne, TT around Cracow. By triumphing in a UCI World Tour event he proved to be one of the best time trialist in the pro peloton.
His palmeras includes silver medal in this year’s Nationals (TT), three stage wins and GC win at An Post Ras and 2nd place at Chrono des Nations as well.
Marcin Białobłocki is currently in Doha, where he raced in the World Championships time trial. He claimed 14th place. He was also part of the National Team in 2015 in Richmond and in this year’s European Championships in France. He took 9th on both occasions.
