In the competition for the title of the Mountains Champion of Poland 2011 the best one was the cyclist of the CCC Polsat Polkowice team, Marek Rutkiewicz, who crossed the finishing line alone, beating his club mate Mateusz Taciak and a cyclist of BGŻ Team, Paweł Cieślik.
121 cyclists stood at the starting line in Podgórzyn to enter the competition for the title of the best ‘climber’ among the elite riders. The team of CCC Polsat Polkowice entered the race with their full composition of 14 riders (without foreign riders), with last year’s winner Marek Rutkiewicz. Also the cyclists of BGŻ Team, BDC Team, Legia, Mostostal and other sports clubs were present at the starting line. The peloton had a distance of the total length of 124,2 kilometres to ride (8 laps 14.2 kilometres each).
From the very beginning the race was dictated by the cyclists from the team of CCC Polsat Polkowice, who dominated the competition totally. As early as in the first laps the ‘orange’ riders imposed a very hard pace of riding, which tore the peloton. Several groups formed, and at the head there were most of CCC riders. Marek Rutkiewicz worked very hard, riding with Jacek Morajko in the first group from the very beginning.
Right before the end of the competition, last year’s triumpher of the race, Marek Rutkiewicz, decided to perform a solo attack, he crossed the finishing line on his own and became the Mountains Champion of Poland 2011.
A minute behind the winner Mateusz Taciak (CCC Polsat Polkowice) arrived at the finishing line in the second place. Paweł Cieślik (BGŻ Team) took the third place.
