The Norwegian Edvald Boasson Hagen from the Sky team became the winner of the classic race Vattenfall Cyclassics held in Hamburg. The best of the CCC Polsat Polkowice team, Marek Rutkiewicz, finished the race in the 18th place.
During this year’s edition of the classic race of Vattenfall Cyclassics the cyclists had a very difficult route to ride, 216 kilometres long, with an uphill stretch of 15 % to Waserberg. During the whole race in the peloton there were numerous breakaways, however the most important one, the one that decided about the results of the race, took place a dozen or so kilometres before the finishing line. A group of 34 cyclists rode away then, and in it two Poles: Marek Rutkiewicz from CCC Polsat Polkowice and Bartek Huzarski from NetApp. In that breakaway among other a 5-cyclist representation of the Sky team participated, working hard for the breakaway to reach the finishing line and to settle the result of the race to their advantage.
The breakaway reached the finishing line 30 seconds before the chasing peloton, and Edvald Boasson Hagen from Sky became the winner of the race. The Norwegian cyclists turned out to be better than the German Gerald Ciolek from Quick Step and the Slovenian cyclist Borut Bozic from Vacansoleil.
