After a bunch gallop, Bartłomiej Matysiak claimed 14th place in UCI 1.2 race, Memorial Henryka Łasaka.
The one-day event was held on a hilly circuit around Sucha Beskidzka. The riders had to cover 5 of them and finished after 167 kilometers of riding. The finale included also two smaller laps with a punchy hill.
The race was played out according to a typical scenario for Polish races, with many attacks early on, which were not let go by the peloton. Finally 4 riders managed to create a bigger gap – Marcin Karbowy (KK Tarnovia Tarnowo Podgórne), Wojciech Franczak (Hurom De Rosa Rybnik), Justas Beniusis (Staki-Baltik Vairas Cycling Team) and Juras Bellan (Dukla Banska Bystrica).
The peloton was not going to make their life easy, as the maximum gap was only 3:20. Midway through the race Beniusis got dropped from the escape and returned to the pack. The remaining trio was not able to hold off the chasing bunch and got caught with around 45 kilometers to go.
Afterwards many riders tried to go clear, among them there was Jarosław Marycz, but all of those attempts turned out to be unsuccessful. At the very end it came down to a bunch sprint, which was taken by Paweł Franczak (Verva ActiveJet). He defeated Sylwester Janiszewski (Wibatech Fuji) and Artur Detko (Domin Sport).
Bartłomiej Matysiak was CCC Sprandi Polkowice’s top finisher, as he claimed 14th place.
