Eryk Latoń took 7th place in the prologue which opened Wyścig dookoła Mazowsza. He lost 4 seconds to the winner and first GC leader, Adrian Banaszek (Verva ActiveJet).
The Mazovian stage-event was inaugurated with a 2,5 kilometer time trial, held by the horse race track in Warszawa Służewiec. 140 riders were on the start list and among them 6-man CCC Sprandi Polkowice squad: Grzegorz Stępniak, Bartłomiej Matysiak, Eryk Latoń, Alan Banaszek, Nikolay Mihaylov and Tomasz Kiendyś.
Most of the riders had to race in the rain and the weather had some impact on some guys’ result. The one who was the fastest in those unfortunate conditions was Adrian Banaszek, who covered the TT distance in just 2 minutes and 50 seconds. His teammate, Kamil Gradek was second 2 seconds back, and Maximilian Beyer (Germany) finished third (+3s).
Eryk Latoń, who was the fastest “rider in orange” of the day, was just 4 seconds off the pace, taking 7th place. 4 other representatives of the Polkowice-based team finished inside top 15, as Mihaylov, Stępniak and Kiendyś claimed 11th, 12th and 13th place respectively.
Tomorrow the riders will face stage 1, which goes around Kozienice and is 165 kilometers long.
