Jarosław Marycz was third in stage 5 of Lotto Mazovia Tour and is still the leader of the general classification. The Friday’s race ended with a bunch sprint which was won by Maurits Lammertink (Jo Piels).
Stage 5 took the peleton from Wysokie Mazowieckie to Łomża and the total distance was 140 kilometers. There were also 14 KOMs but they were not hard enough to split the group.
After lively start and many breakaway attempts 3-man group was formed in the front. Bartosz Pilis (Mexller), Emil Baekhoj (Riwal Cycling Team), Oleksandr Golowash (Kolss) gained 2 minutes and 40 seconds on the peleton, but they were reeled in with 37 kilometers remaining. Soon after another leading group was established – Siarhei Papok (Rietum), Franz Schiewer (LKT Brandenburg), Josef Hosek (Bauknecht Author). They were also caught and again it was all about the sprinters in the end.
After yesterday’s crash in the final meters this time Jaroslaw Marycz was able to sprint for the victory. He finished in third place and was outsprinted only by the winner Maurits Lammertink (Cyclingteam Jo Piels) and Mateusz Komar (BDC MarcPol). Marycz maintained his lead in the overall classification, with 18 seconds advantage over Lammertink and 20 seconds on Eryk Laton (BDC MarcPol). There is only one stage left so the final triumph is very close.
