CCC Sprandi Polkowice riders didn’t miss a move on stage 3 of Mazovia Tour, while Patryk Stosz was again the team’s top finisher.
Info: stage 3, 28th of July, Odrzywół – Odrzywół, 165km
How it unfolded
Similar to the previous day, the opening of the stage was more than fast. The peloton recorded average speed of 48km/h after first hour of racing and it’s easy to imagine, that nobody was able to break clear at such speed.
With 73km into the stage the escape was finally established and Nikolay Mihaylov was one of the lucky attackers. He was part of 13-man move, which gained over a minute over the pack. The peloton was not too happy about that escape and didn’t let the leaders get too much space.
The attempt was neutralized with 75km remaining and later next riders tried their chances. Among them was Marcin Białobłocki. His group got reeled back in as well and again it was all decided in a mass sprint.
It was quite a hectic battle, due to crash inside final kilometer, but “riders in orange” managed to get around safely. The stage was taken by Theo Reinhardt (Germany), who bested Alois Kankovsky (Elkov-Author) and Emils Lieips (Rietumu Banka Riga). Patryk Stosz sprinted to 11th place and kept his 6th spot overall.
Grzegorz Stępniak (Wibatech 7r Fuji), who claimed 4th in Odrzywół, retained the leader jersey.
