The winner of the last stage of the 48th Małopolski Wyścig Górski is the cyclist of the CCC Polsat Polkowice team Tomasz Smoleń, who beat Adam Wadecki (Aktio Group Mostostal Puławy) and the Belgian Sven Vanthourenhout (Sunweb-Revor) in a sprinters duel.
The third stage, from Iwkowa to Biecz, 70 kilometres long, has been shortened due to impassable roads and damaged bridges because of the recent flood. In spite of the short distance the stage was very dynamic. Right after the start in Iwkowa, at 4 kilemetres of the route, the cyclists began the ascent for the climb in Tymowa, which as usual split the peleton into smaller groups. It did not last long, because during the ride downhill the peleton reunited. Such a situation reoccurred during the whole race. Despite numerous attacks from the peleton and three climbs within the route of the stage, almost the whole peleton reached Biecz. Several kilometres before the finishing line, at the last climb in Racławice, 5 cyclists sprang out of the peleton and they managed to maintain an advantage of over a dozen seconds. The peleton, working really hard reached the escape group 200 metres before the finishing line. Tomasz Smoleń, who feels really good at up-the-hill finishing stretches, took the chance and reached for the stage victory.
Jacek Morajko (Mróz ActiveJet) won the general classification of the race outdistancing the Estonian Alessandro Bertuola (Kalev Chocolate Team) by 26 seconds and his team-mate Mateusz Taciak (Mróz ActiveJet) by 31 seconds. Moreover, Morajko triumphed also in the mountains classification as well as in the points classification.
