“Orange squad” for CCC Tour Grody Piastowskie

Victor de la Parte and Felix Grossschartner will lead the “orange squad” in one of the most prestigious stage events in Poland, CCC Tour Grody Piastowskie (2.2).

CCC Tour Grody Piastowskie is obviously one of the most important races in our Polish calendar. We will be racing near our headquarter, so we want to give our fans reasons to celebrate. We will take on the competition with big ambitions and one goal, to win – sporting director of CCC Sprandi Polkowice, Piotr Wadecki explains. – We are lining up strong roster, with two riders who performed very well in Tour of Croatia – Victor de la Parte and Felix Grossschartner. Also Jan Hirt, who showcased good form in Turkey, made the roster.

Grzegorz Stępniak eyes the flat stage to Polkowice. He claimed as many as five top 10 places in Tour of Turkey and on few occasions was able to stay with the strongest on smaller climbs. That shows, how strong he is in this part of the season. Also Bartłomiej Matysiak should be among the contenders in the sprint, after he took 9th in Frankfurt few days ago.

Adrian Honkisz, Łukasz Owsian and two-time overall winner, Tomasz Kiendyś will be part of the team as well. The latter is one of two riders, alongside team’s DS, Piotr Wadecki, who won the race twice in a row.

From Legnica to Dzierżoniów

This year’s edition will kick off as usual, with a 32-kilometer criterium in Legnica, which consists of 20, 1,6-kilometer laps. The results will not be included in the GC, but will select the first leaders of various classifications. The real racing will start the next day, when peloton tackles the stage from Chojnów to Złotoryja (185,6km). There are 6 KOMs on the menu and one of them is cat. 1 – Podgórki, at 81km. The finale is held on three, 21-kilometer laps in Złotoryja, with a cat. 2 climb. Finish is well known to the Polish riders, as it goes uphill.

Stage 2 should suit sprinters. It’s only 117 kilometers long, so it’s going to be very fast, right from the gun. The pace will be the fastest in Polkowice, where the bunch gallop will take place – at least that’s the most possible scenario.

The hardest stage awaits the riders on the last day of CCC Tour Grody Piastowskie. The competition  will be wrapped up on the roads from Wałbrzych to Dzierżoniów. 6 categorized climbs are on the program and three of them are cat. 1 – Walimska, Srebrna Góra and Woliborska. They will see an initial selection being made, but the decisive battle will be held on cat. 2 hill, Kietlice. It will be climbed twice – the second time with 11,5 kilometers to go. The final part of the route is flat, so one has to have a lot of power left in the tank to finish in the top 3.
