Vuelta a Andalucia Ruta Ciclista Del Sol 2017 consists of five demanding stages, including one time trial and one that features mountains top finish.
The core of the CCC Sprandi Polkowice lineup has already few races under its belt this season. Young climber, Michal Schlegel is the only rider selected for this Spanish event, who hasn’t had a chance to test his form after the training camp. That will be not only his season debut, but also his first race in new, orange colors.
The team will be also represented by Maciej Paterski, who finished 7th in Clasica de Almeria, Felix Grossschartner, 11th in Vuelta Ciclista a la Region de Murcia, Łukasz Owsian, highest ranked CCC Sprandi Polkowice rider in Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana, as well as Jan Hirt, Leszek Pluciński and Marcin Białobłocki. The latter is very eager to showcase his skills in stage 3, 12-kilometer time trial to Cordoba. But before he does it, he will have to ride through some mountainous terrain first.
On the first day of racing there are 155 kilometers and 5 categorized climbs to cover. The last KOM is arguably the hardest one, as it is cat. 1 and is located only 19 kilometers from the finish.
“Queen stage” will be held the next day and It will feature mountain top finish to Alto Peña del Aguila (cat.1). 4,89km and avg. 9.73% should be enough to shatter the field and present top favorites. Three KOMs earlier in the stage will help make the first selection.
Last two stages are not as hard, but they are not suited for typical sprinters either. Fast riders, who can cope with smaller climbs are expected to battle for the victory there.
9 UCI World Tour teams are going to participate in the 2.HC race. Alberto Contador, Alejandro Valverde and Thibaut Pinot are among biggest names on the start list. The competition will be broadcast on Eurosport 2.
