“Orange squad” for Sparkassen Münsterland Giro

CCC Sprandi Polkowice will take part in 1.HC event in Germany, Sparkassen Münsterland Giro. It will be held on Saturday, October 3rd.

The profile and results from previous editions, allow to assume that the race may end with a bunch sprint finish. For that reason, two sprinters are on the roster – Grzegorz Stępniak and Christian Delle Stelle. In the very finale they can count on Bartłomiej Matysiak’s lead-out.

Marek Rutkiewicz is more known for his climbing and descending abilities but in 2011 Sparkassen Münsterland Giro he showed that he can sprint as well. He finished 12th in a mass sprint. That was the only time Polkowice-based team has participated in this German event.

Two riders, who have taken part in the world championship in Richmond, made the roster – Josef Cerny and Jakub Kaczmarek. Also, the youngest on the team, Kamil Małecki.

Sparkassen Münsterland Giro is 179,9 kilometers long. The course is slightly undulating, but the hills are not steep and long enough to drastically shatter the peloton. The finale is flat and it will be very difficult for escapees to hold off the bunch and maintain their lead all the way to the finish. The race will start in Ibbenbüren and end with four 4,8-kilometer laps in Münster.
