CCC Sprandi Polkowice has selected the lineup for the upcoming Dutch event, Volta Limburg Classic (1.1, April 1). Maciej Paterski, who finished 2nd in this race two years ago, will lead the squad.
Volta Limburg Classic is 198,6km long and is held on twisty and undulating course, with multiple punchy climbs in the southern Netherlands. The final 20 kilometers of racing are flat, but the finishing straight is gently uphill. This course has been a stage of competition since 2015 edition, when organizers decided to implement some changes, making the race more open.
For “riders in orange” it will be a solid build-up event for Amstel Gold Race (April 16th), which also runs through the region of Limburg.
The team includes few riders who are capable of delivering top result. It will be led by Maciej Paterski, since he’s proven on many occasions that he is at his best in such terrain. In the race’s finale Jan Tratnik should also make his presence known, riding in the front group. He can sprint from a smaller pack and does well on punchy, short hills.
In case of bunch gallop CCC Sprandi Polkowice has two options – Simone Ponzi or Frantisek Sisr. The riders and team director (Gabriele Missaglia) will make the decision on who will be the team’s main sprinter, based on riders’ sensations and the composition of the main group.
We can also expect aggressive performance from Jonas Koch, Michał Paluta, Jakub Kaczmarek and Marcin Mrożek.
The race will kick off at noon and end around 17:00. Live TV coverage will be available on l1.nl.
