After the successful performance in Volta Limburg Classic, where Jan Tratnik claimed the win, CCC Sprandi Polkowice will take on Belgian-Dutch race, Scheldeprijs (April 4th, 1.HC).
This event is sprinters friendly. Flat course and list of previous winners prove that. In the past 10 years the winner always came from a bigger group and even few cobblestone sectors, which were part of the route, didn’t change that trend.
The peloton will kick things off in the Dutch town of Terneuzen. Soon after the start the riders will ride into the tunnel, which goes under the Scheldt River estuary, and will come out of it in the Dutch province of Zeeland. They will remain in the Netherlands until 150km into the race, when they will cross the border with Belgium. After covering 150km the race will enter Schoten, where three, 16,8km circuits will await. In total there will be 200km on the menu.
Due to closeness to the sea, it may get windy. This part of Europe is also known for its unpredictable weather, so this could be a factor and it may cause a split in the field.
One of the fastest guys on the team, Marko Kump will lead the squad, together with Jonas Koch and Jan Tratnik, who are also known for their sprinting abilities. The other “riders in orange” will fight for position for them in the finale and will try to slip into important breakaways earlier in the race.
The race will be broadcast live on Eurosport 2 from 16:00 and Eurosport Player, from 15:20.
Scheduled finish: 17:00
