Owsian 9th in “Gold Ring of Cracow”

Łukasz Owsian claimed 9th place in the prologue of Tour of Małopolska, held on the main square in Cracow.

“Gold Ring of Cracow” had a different format comparing to previous years and was divided into two parts. In the first one the riders faced a typical criterium, which determined which 12 riders moved on to the final – elimination race. Here, whoever was last on every lap (of 10) was knocked out. The results were not included in the overall standings, but lining up at the start was obligatory to take part in the 3-day race.

Łukasz Owsian gathered 7 points in the criterium and advanced to the final. He managed to take 9th place in the decisive round, as Andrzej Bartkiewicz (Wibatech Fuji) claimed a win. Konrad Gessner (P&S Team Thuringen) and Szymon Sajnok (Polish National Team) also made the podium.

Tomorrow is stage 1 of Tour of Małopolska – from Trzebinia to Alwernia (131km long).
