Łukasz Owsian claimed his first victory in 2015, by winning Boxmet Dzierżoniów criterium. The race opened up the Polish Championship in Criterium series.
The plan was to get into the right breakaway which has a chance to go all the way and I managed to do so. Everyone in the 6-man group was contributing to maintaining the lead, we worked well together and we were able to stay ahead of peloton. In the finale I attacked with Kamil Zieliński and we both took part in the decisive battle for the win. I started my sprint from the first position. I’m not the best sprinter so it was my only option. In the end it was very close but I got the victory – Łukasz Owsian said.
I felt good today but my real form will be tested tomorrow, in Sobótka. I don’t feel any pain after the injury – cut knee – so I can train and race normally – he added.
Owsian not only was the fastest on the line. He also collected the most amount of points and won the most aggressive rider classification. His biggest threat in that regard was also Zieliński, but due to bonus points gained in the last sprint, he took the lead in the Polish Championship in Criterium series.
Łukasz Owsian was one of two CCC Sprandi Polkowice riders, who decided to race in Dzierżoniów. The other one was Grzegorz Stępniak, who arrived safely in the bunch.
