Michał Paluta claimed bronze in the Polish Championships in cyclo cross in U23 category. The Nationals were held in Lublin.
– Physically I felt great, but due to lack of racing in cyclo cross races this season, I didn’t feel as comfortable technically-wise – Michał Paluta, who finished 6th overall, said afterwards. – I was losing contact on technical parts of the course and I was closing the gaps when speed and power mattered the most.
I was trying very much not to fall on this slippery and frozen lap. Maybe too much and that made me very stiff and stressed. I’m focusing on the road season and injury early in the year would spoil my preparations. Because of that stiffness I crashed on the last lap and lost my silver-medal position.
Palut was overtaken in the finale by Piotr Konwa and it was him, who was the runner-up in U23 category. Kamil Małecki took 4th among espoirs and 8th in the elite. Patryk Stosz hit the ground around half-way point, broke his bike and was unable to complete the race.
Marceli Bogusławski was the first U23 rider on the line and at the same time won silver medal in the elite category. He was defeated only by four-time champion, Marek Konwa. Mariusz Gil rounded out the podium.
