The course was 189-kilometer ling and ran around the town of Cesenatico. There was one demanding hill in Montevecchio, which was tackled three times.
Davide Rebellin, Adrian Honkisz, Jacek Morajko, Bartłomiej Matysiak, Adrian Kurek, Maciej Paterski and Łukasz Owsian were present at the start line and ready to go.
One of them, Kurek meneged to get into the main breakaway which gained around 4 minute lead over the peleton. The othere escapees were Jarlinson Pantano (Colombia), Alessio Taliani (Androni – Venezuela), Tsgbu Grmay (MTN – Qhubeka), Roman Semyonov (Astana CT) and James Piccoli (Amore & Vita – Selle SMP).
