Paterski and Rebellin in attack mode at Coppa Bernocchi

Davide Rebellin and Maciej Paterski were very active late in the Coppa Bernocchi – G.P. BPM, but eventually the race ended with a bunch gallop, which was not contested by the “orange squad”.

Coppa Bernocchi – G.P. BPM was held on the roads surrounding Legnano. There were seven, 16,7-kilometer undulating laps with a climb to Morazzone to cover. The race was 192 kilometers long and also included 30km+ stretches from the start to the circuit and back to the finish.

First hour of racing saw multiple breakaway attempts and the one that stuck consisted of 8 riders. Dion Beukeboon (ParkHotel Valkenburg), Vitaliy Buts (Kolss – BDC Team), Alessandro Fedeli (Unieuro – Wilier), Matthias Krizek (Team Roth), Giacomo Berlato (NIPPO – Vini Fantini), Ricardo Vilela (Caja Rural – Seguros RGA), Niccolò Salvietti (Norda – MG. Kvis) and Oscar Pelegri (Amore & Vita) established 5-minute lead.

CCC Sprandi Polkowice didn’t wait until World Tour teams started to chase and decided to send few guys at the head of the bunch. They paced the field alongside Italian National Team and brought the gap down to 2:30.

The escape got caught with 45 kilometers to go and that sparked new attacks. Davide Rebellin and Maciej Paterski were among the attackers but eventually the race was decided in a bunch sprint finish. Giacomo Nizzolo (Italy) was the fastest riders of the day, edging out Bardiani-CSF duo, Nicola Ruffoni and Paolo Simion.

Paterski was the first “rider in orange” at the line, coming in in 45th place.
