Paweł Bernas signs with CCC Sprandi Polkowice

Paweł Bernas is another addition to CCC Sprandi Polkowice, as he has signed a 1-year deal.

Paweł is a dynamic and aggressive rider, who can sprint from a shredded bunch – Piotr Wadecki, DS of CCC Sprandi Polkowice explains. – His 2017 season showed that he fully recovered after a serious injury and is back on the right track, to return to his 2015 form, when he was winning on a regular basis.

We are happy that he is joining our squad, since he’s not only a very good rider, but also a great teammate who has positive impact on the chemistry in the team.

Paweł Bernas is 27 years old and he’s been in professional cycling for 5 years. His most successful season came in 2015, when he won GC in Volta ao Alentejo and Szlakiem Gordów Piastowskich, taking also a stage win in both of those events. He claimed victory in Visegrad 4 Bicycle Race – GP Czech Republic and in the stage of GP Liberty Seguros-Troféu Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina, which he finished in 2nd overall. He also took bronze in the Polish championship road race.

He showed his big talent early in his career, winning general classification in Carpathian Couriers Race and taking a double in U23 Nationals – silver in TT and road race.

Even though he didn’t add any victories to his account in 2017, he recorded as many as 20 top 10s. He was 2nd in Tour of Małopolska, 2nd in Puchar Uzdrowisk Karpackich, 4th in CCC Tour – Grody Piastowskie, 6th in Bałtyk – Karkonosze Tour and 6th in Race of Solidarity and the Olympians. He was also selected for the Polish National Team to compete in Tour de Pologne and put in aggressive performance in that race.

I’m very happy that I will have a chance to test myself at the ProContiental level, in the biggest races in the world. I want to thank the management of CCC Sprandi Polkowice for that opportunity. I was racing for a II division team in 2016, but due to injury I lost that season and couldn’t really showcase my skills – Paweł Bernas explains.

The injury is behind me and this year my numbers were better than ever before. I was generating more power, although I was still lacking some confidence after returning to racing and luck was not always on my side. Here I would like to thank my previous team and Andrzej Domin, for helping me after my health issues.

The fact that CCC Sprandi Polkowice have well developed medical team, with very good doctor and physiotherapist, was a huge factor on my decision to join the squad. I don’t have to worry about my health and I appreciate that a lot.

I would like to kick off the season well, become an important part of the team and take on those big events in which CCC Sprandi Polkowice have participated in the previous years, such as Amstel Gold Race and prestigious stage races.
