Christian Delle Stelle just missed out on the podium spot and finished 4th on the last stage of Podlasie Tour. Adrian Kurek was the team’s top rider in the final GC and completed the 3-day event in 8th place.
Podlasie Tour was wrapped up with 148-kilometer stage around Zamrów. There was no major climbing planned, but it didn’t mean it was going to be easy. There were still many riders with big hopes regarding the overall standings and still lots of riders who wanted to end the race with a stage victory. For that reason the pace was strong throughout the entire day and the attacks started right after the start. One of the early attackers were Tomasz Kiendyś and Adrian Kurek. The peloton was not eager to let them go away though and their advantage was never bigger than 30 seconds.
Adriaan Janssen (Jo Piels), Hampus Anderberg and Pierre Moncorge (Bliz Merida) made the breakaway of the day. Their maximum gap was at around 1:45, but it was not enough to think about surviving to the finish.
The trio was caught with 20 kilometers to go. The bunch was going extremely fast and there were also few crashes in the finale. They caused some chaos and made the group split. Many cyclists had to chase down the leaders and some sprinters were left out without some of their lead-out teammates.
The race was decided in a bunch sprint. Stefan Poutsman (Jo Piels) was the first man on the line, ahead of Krists Neilands (Rietumu – Delfin) and Erik Baska (AWT-GreenWay). Christian Delle Stelle arrived right after them and took fourth. Adrian Kurek came in in the big group, 3 seconds behind the winner and finished 8th overall – the highest among CCC Sprandi Polkowice riders. Also Grzegorz Stępniak made the top 10 of the final GC, as he claimed 9th.
Andriy Vasylyuk (Kolss-BDC) won the general classification. His fellow escapees from stage 1, Kamil Zieliński (Domin Sport) and Matvey Nikitin (Seven Rivers) joined him on the podium.
