Primoz Roglic wins at the second stage in Azerbejdzan race

Primoz Roglic of team Adria Mobil was the winner of the 2nd stage Tour d’Azerbaidjan. The leader of the race was William Clarke (Drapac).

The second stage Tour of Azerbaijan started in Baku but ran a bit more difficult route which ended at the finish in Ismyilli. The length of the stage was 187 km and it was a very difficult mountain stage with three uphills where there were mountain bonuses (two cat.2 and one cat.1.)

Another day, most tour riders accompanied by a very strong wind, which strongly hindered competition. Additionally, a very narrow roads and lots of sharp bends caused the peloton was split fairly quickly. Eventually formed three large groups that arrived to the finish line with a fairly large time differences.

The highest placed rider CCC Polsat Polkowice was Adrian Honkisz, who arrived at the finish in the second group, taking 33rd place with a loss to the winner 4 minutes. and 7 seconds. With him also came Josef Cerny (35th). Piotr Gawronski and Jacek Morajko came in the third group, losing to the winner nearly 30 minutes. From the race withdrew Grzegorz Stepniak and Pawel Charucki.
