Branislau Samoilau (CCC Polsat Polkowice) was a part of the breakaway of the day at the Puchar Uzdrowisk Karpackich. He finished fourth, while Pawel Franczak (ActiveJet) took the win.
CCC Polsat Polkowice riders were involved in every move made in the first hour of racing. Adrian Honkisz, Marek Rutkiewicz, Tomasz Marczynski and Lukasz Owsian were present in the leading groups, but eventually it was Branislau Samoilau who managed to get into the breakaway of the day.
It was established after covering 70 kilometers. Konstantin Klimiankou (Belarus), Oleksandr Prevar (Kolss Cycling Team), Pawel Franczak (ActiveJet), Mariusz Witecki (Mexller) and Adam Stachowiak (BDC MarcPol) were also among the leading six.
At one point their advantage reached 9 minutes and it looked like nothing could stop them from arriving to the finish before the peleton. It turned out that the bunch didn’t give up and started reducing the gap.
With 35km to go, the advantage was down to only 3 minutes and the race was still open. This is when escapees decided to regroup and improved their cooperation. Leading six maintained their lead and put themselves in the position to win the race.
It came down to the sprint from the small group. Runner-up from the Polish Championship, Pawel Franczak was the fastest and claimed the win. Adam Stachowiak took second and Prevar was third. Samoilau had to settle for fourth place.
