Maciej Paterski claimed 6th place in the penultimate stage of Race of Solidarity and the Olympians and moved up to top 5 overall.
The program of stage 4 underwent some changes, since it was decided to cancell short laps in Kielce. Thus, there was 162 kilometers to cover and it was going to be another day for the sprinters.
Despite flat profile and slim chances of success for the breakaway, Carl Soballa (LKT Team Brandenburg) decided to go clear and later was joined by a lone chaser, Aaron Verwilst (Lotto Soudal). Together they established 7–minute lead.
Before the escape was formed, Maciej Paterski improved his overall standings by taking first intermediate sprint. Second and third sprint was taken by Soballa.
Despite large advantage gained by the leading duo, it got reeled in inside the final 10 kilometers. Again it came down to a bunch sprint and again it was quite hectic due to crash with 2km to go. The finishing straight was long and suited typical sprinters. Ivan Garcia (Klein Constantia) was the fastest of the fast, besting Enzo Wouters (Lotto Soudal U23) and Adrian Banaszek (Verva ActiveJet). Maciej Paterski finished in 6th place and will approach last stage with 5th place overall (12 seconds behind leader, Paweł Franczak).
