Szymon Sajnok

Rider

  • Birthdate: 24.08.1997
  • Nationality: Poland

Szymon Sajnok comes from the town of Kartuzy. At the age of 10 he discovered GKS Cartusia Kartuzy cycling club and met his first coach, Franciszek Ilisiński. He was encouraged to join that team by his friends, who lived in the same building as he did. After a while he was the only one left, who remained on the team. At first he was training on a MTB bike and he claimed his first wins on it. Later on he would try different cycling disciplines – outside of MTB, also road, cyclo cross and track.

Szymo Sajnok is a student of physical education at Wyższa Szkoła Kultury Fizycznej i Turystyki in Lubicz. He’s interested in street art and travelling. He had a chance to travel a lot last year, when Szymon was part of  Attaque Team Gusto and took part in training camps in Australia and races in China and Japan.

What he would do in life, hadn’t he become a cyclist? “I don’t know. Probably I would go to the army or worked at a job that requires a lot of travelling. I also always wanted to be a sea sailor.”

Despite winning two World Cups in omnium, other victories claimed in track cycling as well as silver medal at U23 Polish Championships in time trial, he still doesn’t feel he succeeded in cycling. “That big win is still yet to come, but I’m happy that I’m making a progress – both physically and spiritually. Everything is going the right direction – he says.
