Felix Grosschartner posted the best time among CCC Sprandi Polkowice riders in the individual time trial on Stage 4 of a Andalucia Ruta Ciclista Del Sol.
The race against the clock was 21 kilometers long and the final 500 meters were going uphill. Due to the fact, that Victor de la Parte had to abandon the race before stage 2, due to fever, CCC Sprandi Polkowice didn’t have a time trial specialist in this TT.
The first “rider in orange” to go was Marcin Mrożek. He was followed by Leszek Pluciński, Jan Hirt, Sylwester Szmyd, Łukasz Owsian and Felix Grosscharter. Austrian recorded the best time among them and took 38th place, 1:22 behind the winner
Teyaj Van Garderen (BMC Racing) set the best result overall – 27”05, besting Wilco Kelderman (Team LottoNL – Jumbo) who was 2nd, by 2 seconds. Jerome Coppel (IAM Cycling) finished 3rd, 7 seconds off the pace. Van Garderen took over the leader’s jersey and Felix Grosscharter is the higest ranked CCC Sprandi Polkowice rider in GC. He sits in 26th, 1:22 back.
Tomorrow is the last and at the same time the hardest stage of the race. It ends with the 14-slope to Peñas Blancas and before the final ascent, the riders will tackle 4 other KOMs.
