CCC Polsat Polkowice dominated stage two of Sibiu Cycling Tour. In a very hilly and demending terrain Bronislau Samoilau took the win and Davide Rebellin finished third.
After very hard stage to Balea Lac the riders had to face another stage with the mountain top finish. This time it ended on the Paltinis (1438m, around 16 kilometers of climbing). The final climb was preceded by few shorter, but also demanding hills.
The whole stage belonged to CCC Polsat Polkowice. One of the first riders to attack was Samoilau. He took off and won the first KOM. He was brought back to the bunch but soon after another CCC Polsat Polkowice rider broke clear. It was Maciej Paterski who was involved in the breakaway of the day. He was riding together with Bram Nolten (Parkhotel) and Oleksandr Sheydyk (ISD). Their maximum advantage reached 6 minutes, but it started to diminish drastically after covering 85 kilometers. On the climb to Jina Paterski decided to go solo, and later was joined by Stefan Schumacher who attacked from the peleton.
They stayed togheter for few kilometers but eventually they had to let it go and wait for the bunch.
40-men group arrived to the bottom of the final climb. There was no spectacular attacks that would split the field. The decisive move was made by Bronislau Samoilau and Primožem Roglič. They pushed the tempo very hard and their rivals were not able to keep up. The man from Belarus had more left in the tank and overtook Roglič. That way Samoilau claimed his first victory of the season.
It was an orange day in Romania, since Davide Rebellin came in in third place. That was his second stage podium in a row, since he was also third on stage one, ending in Balea Lac.
