Smoleń wins the 2nd stage in Lidice.

The sprint cyclist of CCC Polsat Polkowice, Tomasz Smoleń, became the winner of the 2nd stage of the race Lidice 2011. At the finishing line he defeated his companion from the break-away, the cyclist of Dukla Praga, Martin Hacecky.

During the second stage of the race, that was held in laps along the streets of Lidice, the cyclists rode along the route of 120 kilometres, made of 40 3-kilometre-long laps. From the very beginning in the peloton the pace of riding was very high, which was imposed, among others, by the teams of CCC Polsat Polkowice and Dukla Praga. Despite the very high pace Tomasz Smoleń, accompanied only by the Czech cyclist from Dukla Praga, Martin Hacecky, managed to jump out of the peloton. Lap by lap the two escaping cyclists gained the valuable seconds of advantage that at one point was almost 1.5 minutes. Only just before the end of the race the peloton accelerated harder, but despite that the two escapees reached the finishing line alone, having an advantage of 30 seconds over the peloton

Right before the finishing line Tomasz Smoleń attacked and with 3 seconds of advantage, he crossed the finishing line as the first. After 33 seconds the peloton was brought by another cyclist of Dukla Praga, Jiri Hochmann, and right behind them Łukasz Bodnar finished the race.

Arriving at the finishing line in the high, fourth place Łukasz Bodnar still remains the leader of the race, with 9 seconds of advantage over the cyclist of Dukla Praga, Jiri Hochmann. .
