Strong lineup of CCC Sprandi Polkowice for Coppi e Bartali

CCC Sprandi Polkowice has very good memories from Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali and will try to create some new ones in 2018, as the team has named a strong lineup for this event.

The “orange squad” put their stamp in previous editions, by winning team time trial in 2017 and 2015, besting Team Sky on both occasions. In 2018 there are two races against the clock on the menu – one in team and one in individual format – and for that reason CCC Sprandi Polkowice has selected some TT specialists. Jan Tratnik, Kamil Gradek and Mateusz Taciak will drive the squad in TTT and will fight for top places in ITT. Also the leader for GC, Amaro Antunes who is returning to competition after crashing out of Ruta del Sol, knows how to push high watts on a time trial bike and should be in the contention for overall win.

Jonas Koch, Michał Paluta and Patryk Stosz are also valuable riders for the team effort and in addition to that, they can also do well in a sprint from a reduced bunch.

Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali will kick off with two semi-stages – undulating 98 kilometers around Gatteo in the morning, and a 13,3-kilometer team time trial held in the afternoon. This year’s TTT will not have a typical for Coppi e Bartali formula, with every squad being divided into two “fours”, since the UCI shortened the lineups for 2.1 events to odd 7 riders.

Stage 3 from Riccione to Sogliano al Rubicone is relatively short (130km), but it’s arguably the hardest stage of the race. It’s all up-and-down, there will be no time for rest and around 20-kilometer hilly circuit, which will be covered 2,5 times, should break the field apart and make things very interesting.

The penultimate stage around Crevalcore should suit sprinters, while the final one, uphill, 12,5-kilometer time trial to the castle on Montegibbio hill, will present the overall winner.
