Maciej Paterski hasn’t dropped out of top 6 on the stages of Szlakiem Walk Majora Hubala. In Opoczno he finished 6th, keeping the leader jersey.
Info: Stage 3, June 3rd, Poświętne – Opoczno, 174km
How it unfolded?
Going into the stage Maciej Paterski was the race leader and with two intermediate sprints located in the opening 60 kilometers, any early breakaway played in his and the team’s favor. This is exactly what happened, as 6 riders pulled away soon after the start, forming the escape of the day.
Wojciech Pszczolarski (SKC Tufo), Josef Cerny (Czech National Team), Yauheni Karaliok (Minsk), Male Jurss (LKT Team Brandenburg), Michał Podlaski (Voster) and Kacper Gronkiewicz (Domin) established 2,5 minute lead, which was controlled by the “orange squad”.
With around 80km to go Cerny decided to go solo, leaving the rest of escapees behind. His journey in the front ended with 23km remaining and it was all decided in a bunch sprint. It was won by Grzegorz Stępniak (Wibatech 7r Fuji) who bested Kamil Zieliński (Domin Sport) and Eryk Latoń (Team Hurom). Maciej Paterski finished in 6th and managed to defend the yellow jersey. Due to 6 seconds gained at the line by his closest rival, Zieliński, Paterski’s advantage in overall standings dropped to 6 seconds.
Tomorrow’s undulating stage to Końskie will be the race decider.
