The 4th stage of the Tour de Taiwan race ended very well for the cyclists of Merida CCC Team. In the sprinters duel on the home straight in Taichung Bartłomiej Matysiak was defeated only by the cyclist of the Japanese cycling representation – Takashi Miyazawa and was the 2nd on the podium.
The 4th stage of the race around Taichung is another flat stage, on which as usual sprint cyclists dominated. From the very beginning the cyclists imposed a very fast pace (after covering 60 km the average speed was 49 km / h). Numerous attacks from the peleton were efficiently eliminated, despite this at the 80th kilometer three competitors succeeded in breaking away. The little advantage of the escape group was eliminated at 1 kilometre before the finish line, and cyclists of Merida CCC Team contributed to it remarkably, letting its sprint cyclists draft in the home straight.
The winner of the stage was Takashi Miyazawa (Japan National Team). Right after him was Bartłomiej Matysiak (Merida CCC Team) and Tomasz Smoleń he was drafting behind was the 4th.
In the general classification there have been no changes. The leader of the race is still the Irishman David McCann and Tomasz Smoleń is in the 10th place.
