Another, third stage of Tour de Taiwan cannot be considered a successful one for the cyclists of Merida CCC Team. They had 136 km to cover, a relatively flat distance with one second category climb located right after the start. The only difficulty was the one-kilometre long climb to the finish line of the stage. As expected, the peleton with the sprint cyclists on the front, almost whole reached the final climb where it divided into small groups.
In the leading group attacking the finish line there were two racers of Merida CCC Team: Tomasz Smoleń and Adrian Honkisz. Unfortunately, they had to recognize the superiority of their competitors from Asia and came to the finish line seconds after the winner. Tomasz Smoleń was the 8th and Adrian Honkisz crossed the finish line as the 10th.
The winner of the third stage was a Japanese Takashi Miyazawa from the national representation of Japan, who defeated Shinri Suzuki (Shimano Racing Team) and Dean Downing (Rapha Condor Sharp) in a sprinters duel.
In the general classification of the race still the Irishman David McCann is the leader. Tomasz Smoleń is the 10th with 57 seconds to the leader.
