In relation to the information that appeared earlier, among others in cycling portals, concerning a suspension of action of the CCC Polsat Polkowice team, the Management of Miejski Klub Sportowy Polkowice has issued an official announcement on that matter.
Despite the information that has appeared in the media, we would like to inform you that further functioning of the cycle team of CCC Polsat Polkowice is not endangered. We will still see the riders in orange clothing on cycling routes. The only changes that have occurred in the team are staff related, which to a great extent led to the fact that in the cycling season of 2012 we will be registered as a Continental team, and not as it was in the previous season when we were a Pro Continental team, so-called II division. The project of functioning of the cycling team is a long-term one, established with our main sponsor, Mr Dariusz Miłek, and the move to the lover ‘league’ is not for financial, but for personnel-related reasons.
This year some of our best riders have signed contracts with Pro Teams that give them a better chance for developing their cycling career, and thus for participating in the greatest races, among others in Tour de France and Giro d’ Italia. On the one hand, we are glad that the riders from our team have been noticed by the best teams in the world for their sports results. On the other hand, leaving the team they deprived it of the strongest riders, constituting the core of the team. For the team to exist, the sponsors have decided that it will race in the third division, and in its composition there will me mainly young riders, whose task will be to achieve cycling skills under the supervision of the experienced Tomasz Kiendyś. New contracts have been signed with young and promising riders, who after a year’s experience in the professional peloton are to be a great support by the time our team returns to the circle of Pro Continental teams. We would like to create best possible conditions for the riders to develop their skills and to achieve high sporting results. We hope that as early as in a year’s time we will come back to the teams of the II division, and our team will be seen again in Tour de Pologne .
In the season of 2012 the team will have the following composition: Tomasz Kiendyś, Paweł Charucki, Rafał Ratajczyk, Adrian Honkisz, Sylwester Janiszewski, Mateusz Taciak, Bartłomiej Matysiak, Kamil Zieliński and Dariusz Batek as well as the newcomers: Piotr Gawroński, Łukasz Owsian and Grzegorz Stępniak.
The management of the team has not changed. The sporting director of the team is still Piotr Wadecki, and Robert Krajewski will perform the function of the coordinating director.
The Management of the club would also like to thank all our riders for the sporting results achieved in the year of 2011 and to wish them further successes on the Polish arean and abroad.
