At the first weekend of April, the races in Dzierżoniów and Sobótka will start the cycling season in Poland. On Saturday in Dzierżoniów (2 April) the International Cycling Criterium will be held, and the day after (3 April, Sunday) the peloton will be competing in Ślężański Mnich – a race recognized as the official beginning of the cycling season.
At the starting line in Dzierżoniów and in Sobótka there will be teams from the third division (BGŻ Team, Legia) and the teams of Mróz ActiveJet, BDC Team and Aktio Mostostal Puławy.
The CCC Polsat Polkowice team will appear as follows: Łukasz Bodnar, Dariusz Batek, Adrian Honkisz, Sylwester Janiszewski, Błażej Janiaczyk, Paweł Charucki, Tomasz Kiendyś, Marek Rutkiewicz, Rafał Ratajczyk, Mateusz Taciak, Andrez Schulze, Tomasz Smoleń, Jacek Morajko, Bartłomiej Matysiak, Mariusz Witecki and Kamil Zieliński.
Tomasz Marczyński will not participate (treating an injury after the Catalonia race), and neither will Jose Mendes.
During the Criterium in Dzierżoniów the elite cyclists will have a route to ride of 45 km – 30 rounds, 1.5 km each. The start of the elite race about 2.30 p.m.
On the next day in Sobótka, during the Ślężański Mnich race, the cyclists will ride along the route of the total length of 120 km. The race will be held along a circuitous route: Sobótka, Strzegomiany, Będkowice, Księgienice, Świątniki, Przezdrowice, Sobótka. There will be 10 rounds, 12 kilometres each. The starting and finishing line in Św. Anny Street (near the stadium).
This year’s edition, because of its significant role in Polish cycling, has been – by the decision of the organizers of the cycling BGŻ ProLiga – included into that prestigious cycle.
Ślężański Mnich in Sobótka, will not only open the season in Poland, but it will also start the competition of the cycling BGŻ ProLiga.
