On Friday, 24 February, the cycling team CCC Polsat Polkowice flew to Spain, to start their next camp to train and build up their stamina, to prepare for the starts in the cycling season of 2012.
This time the team had chosen Benidorm for their next training camp in Spain. The town is situated on Costa Blanca, 45 kilometres from Alicante, and it is as frequently visited by a lot of cycling teams preparing themselves for starts in the coming season, as Lloret de Mar, or Calpe. In this time of the year the climate conditions here are perfect (comfortable temperature, the sunshine) which is suitable for performing long road training tu build up the kilometre basis. The coast of Costa Blanca has a much varied topography, where you can do training at various levels of difficulty of the ride, from riding in a flat area, to quite difficult uphill stretches.
These are the last moments of the preparations for the season – said the sporting director of the team Piotr Wadecki, right before departing to Alicante. The team have their last training sessions ahead of them, will be performed during the first week, to select, out of the whole team, at the beginning of March, those best-prepared for the first start in this season, the race of Vuelta Ciclista a Murcia. After Murcia we are going to keep on training in Benidorm, from where, on 18 March we are going for the classic cycle race in France – Classic Loire Touraine and at the end of the stay in Spain part of the team are going to take part in a stage race in Portugal. I find the state of preparations for the 2012 very good. The riders worked hard during the winter time, which will certainly show in good results during the races. This training camp is intended among others, to build up the kilometre basis, as well as increase the efficiency and improve the stamina.
Almost the complete team went for the camp to Spain, apart from Rafał Ratajczyk, who is carrying out his individual schedule of preparations for the starts in the 2012 season.
The training will last until the 20 March, and after it, part of the team is going to take part in the stage race in Portugal, Volta ao Alentejo (cat.2.2), which takes place on 22-25 March this year.
