On the next Sunday, 1 May in Baboszewo a cycling race for the Memorial of Andrzej Trochanowski will be held. It will be the first Polish race in the present season included in the calendar of the Union Cycliste Internationale, and at the same time the second competition in the cycle of BGŻ Pro – League 2011.
During the 23rd edition of the ‘Trochan’ the contestants will have a distance of 166 kilometres to ride, with the starting and finishing line in Baboszewo. All the Polish professional teams, the leading club teams and also foreign teams announced their participation in the race commemorating the outstanding cyclist, then one of the best coaches in the history of Polish cycling. The start of the race has been planned for 2.30 p.m.
The Memorial of Andrzej Trochanowski will be the second race in this year’s cycle of BGŻ Pro-League. After the first one, held in Sobótka ‘Ślężański Mnich’, Łukasz Bodnar from the CCC Polsat Polkowice group put on the jersey of the leader, overtaking his team-mates Tomasz Smoleń and Tomasz Kiendyś. The Sunday race will be a good opportunity for the leading Polish sprint cyclists to enter the rivalry in BGŻ Pro-League.
At the finishing line of last year’s ‘Trochan’ the German Andre Schulze turned out to be the best, overtaking Adam Wadecki and Krzysztof Jeżowski. The winner, then representing the Czech group of PSK Whirpool, in the present season is going to defend the title in the colours of the Polish team of CCC Polsat Polkowice. The whole threesome will stand at the starting line of this year’s race.
