The Pomerania Tour is starting.

At the nearest weekend a full of colours peloton will arrive at Pomerania , and in it there will be the best Polish contestants. The Pomerania Tour will be the ultimate test of their form before the announced by the selector Piotr Wadecki roster of our national team for the 67th Tour de Pologne.

This year the Pomerania Tour will consist of two parts. The first one will be the 5th Road Cycling Criterium for the Cup of the President of Gdańsk, which will be held on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.. The other part will be a classical race, 160 km long, around Kartuzy.

A criterium is always a great attraction for the fans gathered along the route. Taking into account that the peloton will many times move along the lap partially situated in the Gdańsk old town, fans of cycling – and not only they – will be able to cheer on the cyclists almost all the time. The starting and the finishing line of the 40 kilometres long criterium, the distance of which stretches around 30 laps, has been arranged by the Neptune’s Fountain in the historic Długi Targ.

For the fifth time Gdańsk is the host of this spectacular event, which this year belongs also to the BDC Korona Miast cycle. Let us remind you, that in the Criterium for the Czernica District Leader’s Cup in Chrząstawa Mała, held several days ago, Łukasz Bodnar from the CCC Polsat Polkowice group turned out to be the best racer. It will be difficult for him to repeat his success in Gdańsk, though, where all the competitors will certainly be a lot more determined to struggle. All of it because of the ultimate selection for the national team for the approaching Tour de Pologne. It will be after the Pomerania Tour when the names of the eight cyclists will be announced, who will, from 1st to 7th August compete with representatives of 22 foreign teams for the victory in the pro-tour race Around Poland.

On the second day of the Pomerania Tour the contestants representing not only the best Polish cycling teams, but also teams from Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic and Ukraine will have to cover the 165 kilometres long route, which begins and ends in Kartuzy. The classic cycle race around Kartuzy belongs to the Pro-League Arkus&Romet 2010 category.

During this year’s Pomerania Tour the cyclists will fight for the victory in four classifications, the most important of which is, of course, the general classification of Mróz S.A.. Moreover the triumphers of the mountains classification (Active Jet) will be determined, the classification of the most active (CCC) and of the U23 classification (Bank BGŻ).

The CCC Polsat Polkowice will be represented in the race by: Krzysztof Jeżowski, Tomasz Lisowicz, Jarosław Rębiewski, Tomasz Kiendyś, Łukasz Bodnar, Bartłomiej Matysiak, Tomasz Marczyński, Adam Sznitko, Sylwester Janiszewski and Tomasz Repiński.

There will also be other outstanding Polish cyclists – Jacek Morajko and Mariusz Witecki, that is the gold medal winner and the silver medal winner of the Championship of Poland from Kielce; there will also be Marek Rutkiewicz (all three of them from Mróz Active Jet), who is going to fight for his victory in the Tour de Pologne in two weeks’ time. One of the most experienced Polish professional cyclists Dariusz Baranowski (Weltour Romet Dębica) will also take part in the competition.
