On Tuesday 24 July the prologue at Służewiec in Warsaw will start the 55th edition of the International Cycling Race ‘Dookoła Mazowsza’.
This year’s edition of the ‘Dookoła Mazowsza’ race consists of four stages and a prologue. The race will start with the prologue. The Memorial of Marek Cichosz, a rider of the Warszawa team of Legia who died suddenly in May this year. The riders are going to race along a circuitous course of 50 kilometres, in the area of the Horseracing Track at Służewiec in Warsaw. The competition during the prologue will show the leaders of particular classifications of the race.
During subsequent stages the riders are going to cover routes around Modlin, Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki, Kozienice and the competition is going to end with an individual time trial in Szydłowiec. The ‘Dookoła Mazowsza’ race, described as a ‘race for seconds’, will take place in flat areas of Mazowsze, where most probably the stage win will be fought for by the riders specializing in sprint finishes, and the victory in the whole race may be decided by the individual time trial. Along the route of the race there aren’t any serious uphill stretches, and the only obstacle for the riders may be the wind, that quite often accompanies riders during that race.
At the starting line of the ‘Dookoła Mazowsza’, which is another race belonging to the cycling BGŻ ProLiga, the whole lead of the professional peloton from Poland is going to stand, as well as amateur teams (club ones) and national teams. Abroad teams from Germany, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Belarus, Holland and Slovakia have also declared their participation.
The team of CCC Polsat Polkowice is going to take part as follows: Marek Rutkiewicz (the leader of the general classification of BGŻ ProLiga), Mateusz Taciak, Tomasz Kiendyś, Piotr Gawroński, Sylwester Janiszewski, Nikolay Mihaylov, Bartłomiej Matysiak and Grzegorz Stępniak.
