Czech Cycling Tour (2.1, August 10-13) will kick off this Thursday, with a team time trial. CCC Sprandi Polkowice, which has won one TTT this season (during Coppi e Bartali), has selected strong lineup for this event.
The 7-man roster includes some time trial specialists, such as U23 Polish Champion, Piotr Brożyna, Felix Grossschartner or Jan Tratnik, who claimed two top 11 results in Giro d’Italia and won Tour of Slovakia, which started off with a 4-kilometer prologue.
All three of our Czech riders – Jan Hirt, Michal Schlegel and Frantisek Sisr – will have the opportunity to race in their home country, on their terrain, in front of their fans. We can expect that they will leave everything out there on the Czech roads.
The lineup will be rounded out by always solid, Łukasz Owsian. Adrian Kurek was also part of the provisional roster, but had to be removed from the start list due to wrist injury, sustained last Sunday, during Memoriał Stanisława Królaka. Now he will have to take at least few days off.
After an 18,6-kilometer team effort around Unicov, the peloton of Czech Cycling Tour will tackle 200-kilometer stage from Olomouc to Frydek Mistek. It’s undulating, but most likely not enough to shred the bunch. Stage 3 from Mohelnice to Sternberk is expected to be the hardest of the race, with as many as 7 categorized climbs. The 4-day event will be finalized with a circuit around Dolany, covered 9 times, which includes one “bump”.
You can find all the information about the race on its website.
