Tomasz Kiendyś (CCC Polsat Polkowice) won the criterium ‘Gród Chrobrego’ held in Szprotawa. He defeated Damian Walczak (BDC Team) and a team mate Sylwester Janiszewski.
During the competitions in Szprotawa the riders had a distance of 54 kilometres to ride (30 laps 1800 m each), which led along the streets of Szprotawa. The starting and finishing line were situated at Rynek Główny, and the route led as usual along the winding streets of the town. The route was technically very difficult, with a little uphill stretch, and a cobbled stretch right before the finishing line.
The race started very dynamically, and the situation on the route changed in almost each lap. The riders of CCC Polsat Polkowice started the race very strongly with a view to leading to the victory of Tomasz Kiendyś, who comes from Szprotawa.
After riding ten laps in the lead, Kiendyś and Walczak led in the points of the criterium, having the same number of points. Sylwester Janiszewski (CCC Polsat Polkowice) was third.
Sylwester Janiszewski’s fall.
The riders of BGZ Team and BDC MarcPol worked very hard, however the team of CCC Polsat Polkowice aiming at leading to Tomasz Kiendyś’s victory dictated their pace for the peloton. In the further points points were scored only by Kiendyś, who became the individual leader of the race. In the next, 25th, ‘generous’ lap points were also scored by Tomasz Kiendyś, which confirmed his victory in the whole event.
The first one to cross the finishing line of the criterium was Sylwester Janiszewski, however, in the general classification of the race the winner is Tomasz Kiendyś. The second place was taken by Damian Walczaka (BDC), and the third one by Sylwester Janiszewski.
Tomasz Kiendyś has become the winner of the ‘Gród Chrobrego’ criterium in his home town of Szprotawa for the third time.
