Info: May 30th, Luxembourg – Luxembourg, 2,3km
Course: technical, undulating, uphill and cobbled finale
It was a very short prologue, but it had little bit of everything – fast descents, technical, twisty roads and uphill finale on cobbled streets. It suited Jan Tratnik quite well, who was third CCC Sprandi Polkowice rider to roll down the starting ramp. He set 3:19, which at the time of crossing the line was 2nd best result, only behind Damien Gaudin (Direct Energie), who rode 3:16.
Later only one rider covered the course faster than the Slovenian, Alexander Krieger (Leopard Pro Cycling). German recorded 3:17, pushing Tratnik down to 3rd place.
Adrian Kurek was second fastest CCC Sprandi Polkowice rider, with 3:33 and 38th place.
That was my first goal for this race and I think I passed it. After some rest and altitude training I didn’t know where I am in terms of my form. I felt good and I did everything on the course perfectly. It was enough to take 3rd place. For sure I wanted to win, but that performance gave me a lot of confidence ahead of the upcoming stages – Tratnik explained.
