Tour de Vendee – CCC cyclists out of the classification.

The cyclist of Vacansolei – DCM Pro Cycling Team, Marco Marcato became the winner of the classic cycle race Tour de Vendée (cat. 1.HC). The cyclists of the CCC Polsat Polkowice team participating in that race did not get ranked.

At the starting line of the French classic cycle race the CCC Polsat Polkowice team stood as follows: Jacek Morajko, Tomasz Marczyński, Jose Mendes, Mariusz Witecki, Paweł Charucki, Dariusz Batek, Tomasz Smoleń and Kamil Zieliński. The cyclists had a distance of the total length of 205 kilometres to ride, leading from Le Poiré Sur Vie to La Roche Sur Yon.

The struggle along the route of the whole race took an unexpected course. For most of the distance, in the peloton, that was riding very dynamically, there were numerous attacks and attempts to break away. Since the route of the race was very difficult, many cyclists did not endure the pace of the ride as early as after riding half the distance and withdrew from the rivalry. In the last kilometres of the route a group of 14 cyclists jumped away from the peloton, quickly gaining significant advantage. In the peloton, in which there were three CCC cyclists – Morajko, Mendes and Marczyński – there was nobody who would care about chasing the escaping group. The advantage of the break-away group kept growing. In the final part of the race out of the escaping group five cyclists jumped, out of whom the best to finish was the Italian Marcato. He beat Pello Bilbao Lopez De Armentia (Euskaltel-Euskadi) and the French Maxime Bouet (AG2R La Mondiale).

The difficulty of the route is reflected in the fact that only the 14 cyclists, who rode in the break-away, were ranked at the finishing line. The peloton of 44 cyclists, in which there were Marczyński, Mendes and Morajko, did not fit into the time limit and were not ranked. Almost 60 riders did not complete the race, among them the other cyclists of CCC Polsat Polkowice.
