Jonas Koch claimed his second top 10 spot in Tour des Fjords, just missing out on the podium of stage 3. “Riders in orange” made their presence known not only in the sprint, but also during the stage, by sending Jakub Kaczmarek into the breakaway of the day.

Jakub Kaczmarek attacked soon after the start with Jon Rincon (Caja Rural), Nick Van der Lijke (Roompot), Krists Neilands (Israel Cycling Academy) and Isac Lundgren (TreBerg). After the intermediate sprint in Etne, Van der Lijke decided to wait for the bunch, so 4 riders entered last 110km of racing in the front. Despite losing one man, escape increased the lead to 4:30, with 78km to go.
Peloton got shattered on the first and only categorized climb of the day, but later it all came back together. They picked up the chase with around 40 kilometers to go and caught escapees, including Kaczmarek, with 5km remaining.
It came down to a bunch sprint and Jonas Koch was fighting hard to position himself perfectly for the gallop. It resulted in 4th place at the line, just behind the winner, Edvald Boasson Hagen (Dimension Data), Lars Boom (Team LottoNL-Jumbo) and August Jensen (Team Coop)
