CCC Sprandi Polkowice capped off Tour of Austria with three guys in the top 20 in the last stage and 15th place overall for Paweł Cieślik.
Info: July 14th, Scheibss – Wels, 163,2km
Course: undulating (three cat.3 hills), flat finale
The day’s main breakaway went clear on first, cat.3 climb and it included 5 riders. CCC Sprandi Polkowice were not part of that move though.
The leaders established over 4-minute lead before the bunch began chasing, with 70km to go. The pace of the peloton picked up, but it was not enough to reel the escapees back in. Alexey Lutsenko, Giovanni Visconti, Nick Van der Lijke, Nikolay Mihaylov and Lachlan Morton managed to hold on and arrive at the finish together.
Visconti was the fastest one from that group, to wrap the 8-day competition with a win. Lutsenko was 2nd and Van der Lijk 3rd. Main field came in 50s behind and Jonas Koch sprinted to 12th place, just ahead of Patryk Stosz. Paweł Cieślik took 18th and secured 15th place overall.
