7 riders managed to go clear soon after the gun, but they didn’t ride together for too long. They split apart on first categorized climb of the day (cat.1). Those who managed to stay in the front gained over 5 minutes on the bunch. That differential was starting to go down at 50km to go mark.
Unfortunately it was not Kamil Małecki’s day. He’s been dealing with illness for the past few days and had to abandon Tour of Austria.
Meanwhile the escapees, couldn’t hold off chasers and were brought back in with 8km to go by splintered bunch. Paweł Cieślik, Michal Schlegel, Jonas Koch and Leszek Pluciński were all part of it.

Michał Schlegel finished in 21st, while Cieślik, Koch and Pluciński also arrived with the strongest.
