Tour of Austria: Top 20 place for Paterski on Stage 1

Maciej Paterski was the team’s top finisher on Stage 1 of Tour of Austria and arrived at the line in Top 20. First victory in a road race, after the team time trial, was grabbed by Sondre Holst Enger (IAM Cycling).

The day’s main breakaway didn’t include CCC Sprandi Polkowice riders. Those who made the final cut were Yoann Paillot (Marseille 13 KTM), Daniel Lehner (Vorarlberg), Dejan Bajt (Amplatz – BMC), Guillaume Bonnafond (Ag2r La Mondiale) and Lukas Pӧstlberger (Tirol Cycling Team). They set a solid pace in the front and the peloton was not very eager to chase them down early.

The group gain 9 minute lead, before Katusha, MTN-Qhubeka  and Cofidis started to pull the bunch. The escape was caught with 20 kilometers to go and it was followed by numerous new attacks. They all didn’t last long and the stage was wrapped up with a bunch sprint.

Sondre Holst Enger (IAM Cycling) was to fastest man on the line and took the win. He defeated Paolo Simion (Bardiani CSF) and Gerald Ciolek (MTN – Qhubeka). Maciej Paterski finished in 19th place and is the highest ranked CCC Sprandi Polkowice rider in general classification. Gerald Ciolek is the new leader.
