Jan Tratnik kicked off Tour of Austria on a high note, taking 8th place in the prologue.

The time trial was very short, but at the same time extremely hard and steep, with the gradient of nearly 11% (87 meters of elevation gain over 800 meters). CCC Sprandi Polkowice took on the prologue with an 8-man lineup. First one to roll down the starting ramp was Marcin Mrożek and the last was Felix Grossschartner.
Jan Tratnik, two time top 15 finisher in races against the lock in 2017 Giro d’Italia, clocked 2:19:42, which was 8th best results of the day, 8 seconds behind the winner Oscar Gatto (Astana). Grossschartner was 17th, 12 seconds off the pace.
Gatto’s teammate Miguel Angel Lopez took 2nd and Wiliam Clarke (Cannondale-Drapac) set 3rd best time.
